EU Visa Waiver for U.S. Citizens Visiting Czechia

American tourists in the Czech Republic can visit the country’s castles, palaces, monasteries, and other places of historical significance.

To travel to the Czech Republic, Americans will soon need an ETIAS visa waiver. The new travel authorization for U.S. citizens traveling in Europe will be avaliable from 2026.

U.S. passport holders will be required to apply for ETIAS online before going to Czechia.

ETIAS for Czech-Republic

American passport holders can apply for ETIAS online from 2026. ETIAS will be required to travel to the Czech Republic from the United States without a visa.

ETIAS for the Czech Republic is valid for:

  • 3 years, or until the U.S. passport expires (whichever is sooner)
  • Multiple trips to the Czech Republic, or any other Schengen state
  • Trips of up to 90 days per 180-day period

To apply, American passport holders will complete an electronic form with basic personal information and passport details. There are also be some security-related questions on the ETIAS form.

Most travel authorizations will be approved within minutes of submitting the application.

ETIAS Requirements for U.S. citizens to visit the Czech Republic

U.S. citizens will need a valid passport to apply for ETIAS for the Czech Republic. A debit or credit card to pay the visa waiver fees, and an email address, are also required.

To travel to the Czech Republic with ETIAS, Americans must be visiting for:

  • Business, tourism, or transit
  • No more than 90 days in a 180-day period

They must also meet EU safety and security requirements to be granted travel authorization. Information provided by the ETIAS applicant is cross-checked against Schengen security databases.

Americans who do not qualify for ETIAS for the Czech Republic need to apply for a visa.
